Animal society

Syed Fasih was a young boy who lived in my previous neighbourhood. Yesterday he was hit by a dumper and today he died. This is the third child in the neighbourhood to be killed in a traffic accident. I have written several articles on traffic accidents before. I have already said that the biggest cause of unnatural death in Pakistan is traffic accidents in which around a hundred thousand Pakistanis are killed on the roads every year. I have also said that there is no news of such accidents unless the death toll is more than one or two. No responsible person or section of society is ready to take notice of this situation.

I wonder what the cause of our indifference in this matter is. The understandable cause is that the foundations of our training have been reversed for decades. In this training we are sensitized to the unimportant things instead of the most important things. The sanctity of human life is the greatest thing, both in terms of religion and human nature. But the sanctity of human life has never been considered important in our country and we have not been sensitized about its protection.

This is the reason due to which people are dying one after another. Mothers are in a state of disaster. Fathers are becoming feeble. Brothers and sisters are writhing. But the society is not ready to pay any heed. This indifference shows that we are no longer human society. We have become an animal society. When an animal dies, the rest of the forest doesn’t care.

However, it is a law of nature that the earth does not tolerate such two-legged animals for long. A nation that is not sensitive to the survival of its people is ultimately sentenced to death.
