Shakuntala Devi – Abdul Rahman Siddiqui
On 04 November 1929, a girl named Shakuntala Devi was born in the house of an illusionist in Bangalore (India). Contrary to her father’s sorcery, this girl was born with God-given ability. She never went to school, yet from an early age she solved difficult mathematical questions in a matter of moments. When it became famous, she was called to the University of Mysore and asked to find the cube root of an eight digit number which Shakuntala wrote on the blackboard the next moment without going through any sequential steps. This fame led her to great universities all over the world.
In 1977, at Methodist University in the United States, the 23rd (twenty-third) root of a 201-digit long number was extracted in just 50 seconds, while a special computer was built to verify this mathematical process at that time. In 1980, she was asked to add a 13-digit number with another 13-digit number at Imperial College London, and in just 28 seconds, she did it. Similarly, in 1988 at Stanford University in the United States, she was asked to find cube root of an eight-digit number and Shakuntala Devi answered in just 2 seconds. She was nicknamed the Human Computer and was named in the Guinness Book of World Records. This ability was extremely unusual, as generally women lack maths skills. That is why there is a need for female maths teachers in every age. In such a case, a woman’s ability solve mathematical complexities faster than a computer is really astonishing.
On the Day of Judgment, Allah Almighty will display the data of every human being on the screen of Meezan’s (a device for measuring deeds) supercomputer. Before the display of result, it is possible for God to give every human being the ability to calculate more than Shakuntala Devi, and as a result of which, man himself might see the entry of his book of deeds and might reach the conclusion in a matter of moments which is yet to be seen on the Meezan. Perhaps in order to explain this fact, it has been said: “It will say, Read your record, today there will be none but yourself to call you to account!”. (Al Quran 17:14)
But on that day you do the calculations yourself or the supercomputer, will not be of any use to you. But today, if you hold accountable to yourself for a while before going to bed at night, then surely your faults will be revealed to you.
Believe me, if you correct them, this thing can lead to your salvation and for that there is no need to have abilities like Shakuntala Devi.
