A young man was doing a menial job. He was working with great diligence and integrity, but the job was of a menial nature with very little pay. He continued to work there for a long time, but there was no possibility of advancement in his job and the door of success could not be opened.
He was ageing so the family married him. His wife was a very sensible girl. She explained to her husband that progress in life does not come only through hard work, but it is also necessary to adopt new ideas and new paths.
The young man’s desire for advancement was already heightened by the arrival of his wife; this gave a further boost to his passion. So the young man assessed his situation and came to a conclusion that his main virtue was good communication skills besides honesty. So, he quit his menial job and started selling goods on commission in a company. Due to his honesty and good communication skills, he soon started to get promotion in this new field. The company fixed him a good salary within no time and commission was in addition. However, this young man wanted more success. He again assessed himself and found that his lack of education and poor English skills were obstacles to progress. In two years, he worked hard to remove these two defects. Then started living a prosperous life by doing a very good job in a new company.
This example shows that the path to growth in life consists of two basic things. One is a passion that encourages hard work and the other is to leave the beaten path and find new paths. High spirit and new ideas open the real way of progress in life.
